No Blizzard no. Stop already. Stop it. Just no. Beast Hunter - yes. Beast Druid - no. It's that simple.
Except that Blizz hasn't given druid any other ways to win the game, only play it, so the argument is invalid. There isn't any beast synergy for Druids in basic set, and imo it's a bad idea to start changing the themes of classes at this point. How about some rogue secrets in the next expansion? Or mage demons?
And that's before you consider the huge array of high-quality beasts available to players in Standard, including Huge Toad, Tomb Spider and Stranglethorn Tiger. You could turn Mukla's Champion into a 6/5 to keep it on the board for more than one turn, which is a potential win condition.
Midrange Beast Druid could be terrifying.
Agreed, not with the Champion and the Tiger though. But I think the fact Tomb Spider and this exist might push Beast Druid over the edge. The problem with beast druid was always that you run out of steam a bit too quickly. Druid is great at staying ahead on curve in minions, but so far removal has been to efficient to keep up. If I innervate out a Druid of the Claw and it gets fireball'd, I'm down a card and barely gained tempo. Cards that fuel your hand is what was needed.
Yeah, all that mana cheating makes card draw a necessity, which is why this card has the potential to turn the archetype around.
I still think Stranglethorn Tiger can be really good for mid- to late-game control, or even a sneaky lethal. On the other hand, you're right that Mukla's Champion will probably never be a thing.
very true.
Druid has 2 class specific cards that summon beasts in the Classic set. Blizzard is just trying to do some furthering that. It makes a decent amount of sense thematically, hell the hero power is shapeshift. Almost all of their cards are about the wild and whatnot. Blizzard introduced a lot of good neutral beasts in Naxx and some good Druid class ones in GVG. They didn't take ages to establish that Druid was going to have a Beast mechanic sub-theme. I would say that it's similar to Shaman's Totem sub-theme, or Rogue's Pirate sub-theme. They themselves aren't exactly great for crafting an entire deck around, but I've seen a Buccaneer in some non-pirate Rogue decks, and god knows I've seen plenty of Totem Golem. Try not to pigeonhole stuff like this into something it doesn't even have to be.
Also, I feel the Druid class is REALLY stale, and could use more stuff like this. Maybe it does make a new deck. That would make playing a Druid spicier, not just guessing, "is he playing standard combo, or Fel Reaver?"
Also, your charging bushes are very likely to get nerfed in the upcoming patch. One of the two pieces of combo will, anyway.
Not really a powercreep since Mark of the Wild gives Taunt and Mark of Y'Shaarj's draw effect is conditional, in fact I think is preety balanced in comparison.
I wish this was a hunter card
I was much more exited after I realized that it wasn't hunter.
Amen. As noted above, Druids already get buff spells.
That's the point, not every mechanic should be availiable to any class, it's bad flavor and dilutes diversity.
not true look at the paladin class they have way more buffs for sure
Thumbs up ! Beast druid player here. Yeah ! y( ⌒o⌒)y
that's true but overall there needs to be BETTER beasts, not just more beasts...I mean druid of the claw is pretty good and so are the other druids but lik WTF BLOODFEN RAPTOR...so sad =(
Why you think that raptor is bad. it is a sticky minion.
Bloodfen Raptor not Mounted Raptor
Still a weak argument. Nobody even plays Bloodfen Raptor, since Huge Toad is better in every way.
arena?
thanks for the clarification man
