I'm still trying hard to find that usefulness of that card. I mean, I'm currently trying a control priest and, in like 20 games, I've used Elise Starseeker 5 times and only used Golden Monkey 2 times (was lucky enough to draw them without being too much behind). But in the end I could've been better off if I had simply used another 4 mana strong card (Auchenai Soulpriest with Justicar Trueheart come to mind). Because those Golden Monkey cards come most often to the very bottom of your deck. I'm still not sure if it's possible to have a copy of a legendary and then making Reno Jackson useless. I used it once and it worked, but I was still wondering what would've happened if it wasn't the case ?
I feel like it's better off with a control warrior but I don't have a lot of experience with them. Druid ? No thanks, it's hard enough to get manas without being behind especially with all those aggressive decks running on the ladder.
It's confirmed that you can get duplicates. Play Reno Jackson BEFORE the Golden Monkey. Not to mention Reno Jackson will probably be replaced when you play the Golden Monkey. I found I liked Elise Starseeker in my Renolock because you can tap so much, your chances of making everything work is pretty high. Just make sure to use Lord Jaraxxus and Reno Jackson first!
Super fun so far, but obviously not viable in Constructed Play.
I feel like there are too many sub-par legendaries for this to be worth the crazy amount of effort and luck needed for it to go off.
Sadly none golden monkey dosent fill deck and hand with golden legendaries
odd for me it didn't give me any ._. ill test again
It will give you golden legendaries even if you play the regular Golden Monkey
I lost two games because of Elise, it filled my hand and deck with bad legendaries and the good ones were all 9 mana haha
Basically I lost all board control I had and having 2 Ysera and 1 Malygos prevented me from healing myself.
The Hall of Explorers really gave us a lot of new options and playstyles through leg's and they are all really cool. Except this one. It's just a wild card that just wont work. In Hearthstone , when you make a deck you make a gameplan, you form win conditions.. Develop a strong early board, stall the game with removals for your powerful midrange or late game drops , stall the game for your high dmg combo. But this card just isnt worth making a deck around. Draw this , draw another card , and finally draw another and congrats you have a legendary deck with 3 Millhouses and Cho's. It requires SO much and it doesnt reward you enough.

I think it will be a staple in all control decks, enable new control decks previously not viable. It will allow control decks to put a LOT of anti-aggro cards in them, and still be able to beat other control decks by recycling their useless Acolyte of Pain/Shield/Lightning Storm/Shield Block into legendaries. It also is 2 cards to draw, 11/9 in stats, playable on turn 4 to get 3/5 of those stats, for the cost of 1 card slot in a deck. That's a lot of card-advantage.
It's not a "Timmy" card, where you try to win big with 20 legendaries that nobody can beat. That is how most people keep reading this card. It's a powerful pile of stats that recycles useless cards into more stats and possible haymakers like Malorne.
Staple in control? Yea people will LOVE to change their powerful removals and already good legendaries for random crap legendaries.
There is just a lot of risk. Yea i might work like the way you say bu it might just change your useful cards to Cho's and make you lose the game. Not to mention it's too slow even for some Control decks.
I think this card will be important on ladder. Maybe not players who want to get to legend via the only way, netdecking. But, there will always players who play from ranks 20-3 that do not net deck, and do play various control decks. Currently, control warrior received too many goodies, such as Justicarr. The CW's, players who pay a lot mind you, want and needed better representation on ladder and in tournaments. Anyway, back to the point, CW is the dominant, alpha control deck. It's annoying to play against, and annoying to play as (not interactive, only competitive threats are mirror matches). This card will hopefully allow other non-CW decks to out-value CW.
Will this card be good? Yes absolutely, when it is played against another heavy control deck that you normally wouldn't be allowed to outlast (ie: even win against unless you took your control deck and hit them hard early on maybe, or just got lucky with tempo).
Sorry, you are wrong. I just won a CW mirror where my opponent played this, and I had Ysera in her place. H actually got to play the golden monkey and a couple of decent legendaries, but the game was not close at all, he ran out of cards while my Ysera kept supplying threats for me.
The strength of CW is boardclears and cheap removal on top of insane amounts of armor gain. Outgreeding a CW is extremely hard!
I'm wrong because of a single game you played where you were already winning well ahead of your opponent? Would you have made this same post had your opponent beaten you...?
It was more to it. I went for the fatigue win, and my opponent thought Elise would help him with the 2 extra cards. It did not. Also, he thought the extra legendary minions would strengthen his deck with more threats, it did not, even pulling Hogger and Ghaz'rilla.
I do not think this card would help other control decks beat CW the slightest. Also, you need to dig pretty deep to get to the monkey...
Might be a fun card for Mill Decks.... but just fun since... dunno if you want to replace all of your Tech cards with legendaries.
Maybe the most heartbreaking card for Hearthstone ever, because the art and mechanics of the card are so beautiful and fun, but the power of the card seems like trash level. Maybe this can be paired with Reno Jackson in some fatigue decks or something.
this card will probably be the key for new players to get viable decks running. basically every midrange deck will get a huge lategame. also you can build completely removal based decks, like this cw list.
