Transformations
How to Get
The normal version of Druid of the Flame is obtained by defeating Garr in the second wing of Blackrock Mountain, Molten Core. Once obtained, you can craft the golden version for 400 arcane dust.
Check out our Garr Boss Guide!
Innervate and then this guy as a 5/2 first round is pretty good IMO at least it does't die to rouge and mage hero power.
You could protect it w/ 2 drop taunts so it might just work for faster druid decks. It's a good option for this card if you know your matchups well.
Kind of disappointed that they didn't include Majordomo Staghelm as a Blackrock Mountain boss, given that he was Executus' successor during the Cataclysm expansion.
But still, glad to see that the Druids of the Flame as an overall group haven't been forgotten by Ben Brode and his team. I look forward to playing this card alongside Druid of the Fang!
Was he ever in Blackrock Mountain? No...
This card should've been saved for a Firelands adventure or Cataclysm themed expansion.
"Because she's the magma rager druids deserve, but not the one it needs right now."
Fire Hawk Form or Firecat Form
"Hmmm... I wonder..."
Druid will never get good class cards it seems (other than vanilla.)
Then again, it can abuse all new neutral cards with innervate.
I think it's a little more interesting than most. I think a 5/2 for 3 is actually pretty good depending on the board state. And when it's not good 2/5 usually is decent. Its enough of a threat for control to have to deal with and a solid anti-rush card against aggro. Its not a power card, but I don't hate it.
Someone said that both transformations would be beasts.
They are.
2 mana would've been sick. With everyone about to run Blackwing Techinician this is pretty weak.
In the distance, I can hear Magma Rager crying.
He's always like that though.
It's a class card, so I don't think we can yell power creep just yet.
If druid had a removal spell, it would've been OP, but hey, at least we have Poison Seeds, I expect to see this + Bloodmage Thalnos + Swipe or Starfall since the meta will be slower, there will be chances to use the combo, + that Thaurissan card will help with it, 7 mana for PS+SF, 7 for PS+BT+S
A 2/5 taunt for 3 mana would be so overpowered.
Might replace Harvest Golem as a mediocre option in budget midrange Druid. Not a terrible card, but other low attack high health (oasis snapjaw, mogushun warder) aren't really played either these days with how good the card pool has gotten post GvG.
Definitely leaning towards the beast-themed decks as the minion it summons is a beast. Since health is usually more valuable than attack in HS, choosing the 5/2 can be a gamble unless you can raise it's health that turn as well.
But if playing against Priest, you will certainly want to pick the 5/2 form, given how you'll want to play around Cabal Shadow Priest.
And yes, while 5/2 is vulnerable to Holy Nova, having your minion killed is a lesser evil compared to that minion getting stolen instead.
The problem with Beast themed Druid decks is that we only have one card Druid of the Fang that cares about beasts. If they want to push a Beast strategy they need to print more Beast matters druid cards.
I was generalizing not saying that's how it should be played for each class you go against.
