I agree in a sense. I do think that it should have some lower stats, but barely (not 5/5 or 2/3) 6/6 should be OK, maybe even 7/5 so that it doesn't blow everything out at 7 mana.
It's a huge blowout card that when comboed properly can destroy a game. This is a serious card that will see serious play.
Also, one of the few SERIOUS comeback mechanics in the game.
I think the card is worth of the title legendary as it is. If you look at War Golem, it is a 7/7 but only a basic card. The only thing Dr. Boom has more than that i in the worst scenarior 4 more damage or in the best scenarior 10 more damage.
Which makes no sense as they are made from animated stone and are not machines. In fact, I think they are classified as elementals in WoW.
No, War Golem is not a mech.
I feel there are certain cards where 7 attack would be a nerf. Big Game hunter for decks like druids and warriors is there only true way to remove a card without a 2 card combo (crush changes this) I commonly find myself when playing warrior smashing weapons into 9 attack minions. I've got 50 effective health why do I care? But against a ramp druid that has been smashing face against me all game, III just drew BGH and he played Dr. Boom and instead of 7 attack it has a proposed 6. I can't BGH and now i have to smashing something into it and either execute it or weapon it to death. And I sure as hell don't want to waepon it with a death's bite because now i'm looking at potentially 14 dmg to the face + another 14 dmg to the face a turn or two alter (FoN + savage roar). Now a whirlwind + execute, I've found is ideal but i still take dmg in the process and that next big card I may not have the armor to shield slam now. So if I could BGH would be great. I can keep some armor and hopefully have a boom bot destroy BGH rather than losing the armor to shield slam an ancient of war. I will say though that sylvanas + whirlwind has been an effective play against Dr. Boom. I've been trying to keep those two in my hand for his potential play. Now I propose this what if troggzor was a 7/6? He wouldn't be as good. Now instead of just silencing him and then removing him, a person can do a one for one trade rather than a 2 for 1. People taut this ability about Troggzor because he is always a 2 for 1 trade and potentially better 3 to 1. Now if he could simply be BGH'd, people may not taut him as the best legendary of GvG. The reason this 7 attack threshold is so important is because lots of people run BGH and rightfully so, it gives a major tempo advantage adn removes a big minion guarenteed. I understand how it power creeps war golem and the complaint about that but I don't think comparing a legendary and a common card is particularly compelling.
Love this card because it is inspired by Dr. Doom :D
Well, yes. But he's actually an NPC in WoW first, which was obviously inspired by Dr. Doom.
Dr. Boom is a quest NPC found in the Netherstorm zone in Outland. He's a goblin gone crazy from the radiation in some area and has now turned into a villain. The most notable quest with him is one where you have to throw bombs at him to kill him, while dodging the Boombots that he sends out walking towards you, and the sticks of dynamite he throws at you when you get to close.
Fun trivia fact: Dr Boom was used as a "target dummy" of sorts in the Burning Crusade expansion, because he did no direct attacks and had a crazy amount of health for the time. He could safely be used by ranged damage dealers to test certain things about their DPS.
Really nice stats, let's see if the Doom Bots worth
Yeah, checked the Boom Bot right now
Yes, but if i'm running control warrior and the BGH gets used on my Dr. boom, then Im happy...so he will be situational, but I think he'll be good.
"outside of a mech deck pretty useless" OH YEAH PRETTY USELESS DEATHRATTLE: DEAL 8 DAMAGE TO ENEMY HERO
